Chudayu Toba was born in 1806 in Japan.
Chudayu Toda was a retainer of the Mito Clan (Ibaraki Prefecture). He was highly respected by Clan Lord Nariaki Tokugawa, who appointed him Shissei (highest ranking official). He was, however, stripped of the rank and his property was confiscated when his clan lord was removed from office by the Shogun for his anti-Shogunate tendencies. He was restored to office (1854).
