He graduated from Engineering Department of Kyoto University in 1916.
Career
Haraguchi Chujiro entered Home Ministry; promoted to engineer (1919); became chief of Public Works Agency of Kobe City (1926); appointed chief of Water-Works Bureau of Kobe City. After war was appointed deputy-mayor of same city (1946); follow- ing year retired (1947) and was elected once to House of Councilors on a Socialist ticket. Was elected mayor of Kobe City (1949).
