Ezeife, Chukwuemeka was born on November 20, 1939 in Igbo-Ukwu, Awambra, Nigeria. Son of Joshua Okeke and Virginia Nwafor (Ezeude) Ezeife.


Bachelor of Science in Economics with honors, University London, Ibadan, 1964. Master of Arts in Economics, Harvard University, 1971, Doctor of Philosophy, 1972.


Teacher Salvation Army, Eastern Nigeria, 1955-1961. Marketing trainee Nigerian Breweries Ltd., Lagos, Nigeria, 1964-1965. Lecturer in economics Makarere University, Uganda, 1967-1969.

Federal civil servant Government of Nigeria, 1965-1967, 72-86. Chairman Productivity Prices and Incomes Board, 1982-1983. Permanent secretary, Ministry of Labor, 1983-1984, permanent secretary, chairman Nigerian Enterprises Promotion Board, Lagos, since 1984.
