Hsu Chung-nien went to France in 1920 and studied at the following schools: Institute Franco-Chinois (Lyon) Universite de Lyon, Ecol Universelle (Paris), Paris University. He received Doctor of Letters degree from Universite de Lyon.
Mr. Hsu was the director of the publications department and chief librarian of the Labor University, Shanghai. Then he became a professor at the Central University, Nanjing, and in addition teaching at the Central University. Hsu Chung-nien was an editor of the Milo Weekly Section of the China Times (Shanghai), The Literary and Arts Supplement of the Ming Sheng Pao (Nanjing). He also was an author of numerous books, several novels and books of poems in Chinese.
