Gleason was the head college football coach for the Sterling Warriors located in Sterling, Kansas. He held that position for 7 seasons, from 1953 until 1959. His coaching record at Sterling was 29 wins and 29 losses.

He died June 29, 1986 at the Hutchinson Hospital in Kansas.
