Played leading parts with Otis Skinner, Margaret Anglin, Laurette Taylor, Katharine Cornell, Lunt and Fontanne, etc. Director following plays on Broadway: Rebecca, 1944. Mademoiselle, 1932; Brittle Heavan, 1934.
President Actors Equity Association, chairman Experimental Theatre Board. Member board American National Theatre and American Theatre Wing.
