A right-handed batsman and superior field, his first-class career was an exceedingly short one lasting just two matches in eleven months. In a Timeless match lasting seven days, Wimble top scored for Transvaal in the first innings with 62 and followed this with a further 46 in the second innings. This performance contributed to his selection for South Africa’s sole Test Match against England in 1891-1892, and their third representative match overall, played at Newlands in Cape Town.
