Student, Cleveland School Art, 1923-1927; studied abroad under, H. Hofman, Capri, Italy, summer 1927; Doctor of Philosophy (honorary), Moravian College, 1994.

Instructor Cleveland Museum Art, 1930-1937. Assistant professor painting and design Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, 1938-1944. Guest instructor painting Cleveland Institute Art, summer 1948, Minneapolis School Art., fall 1949, Lehigh University, 1954, Ohio University, 1955.

Atlanta Art Institute, 1957. Guest artist University Iowa, Spring 1970. Artist-in-residence Lafayette College, 1961-1969, consultant, 1970-1971.

Guest artist Kent State University, 1975, Iowa State University, Ames, 1975. General superintendent Federal Art Project, Cleveland District, 1937-1938.
