Burton, Clarence Monroe was born on November 18, 1853 in California, United States. Son of Charles S. Burton.


Bachelor of Science, University of Michigan, 1873, Bachelor of Laws, 1874, honorary Master of Arts, 1905.


Was admitted to the bar at the age of 21. Devoted spare time to study of history of Detroit and the Northwest, and collection of one of largest libraries of Americana in West, including many unpublished documents, copies of archives in France, Canada and United States Proprietor Wayne Company Abstract of Land Titles.
