Began life as a sailor at 19 years of age. Was in the Abyssinian Expedition. Left the calling of the sea and went to America.

Returned and studied at Heatherley’s School of Artist

Entered the Royal Academy as student at 22 years of age, and was exhibiting on the walls of Resident Advisor at 24 years of age. Elected Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at 32 years of age. Rhode Island; landscape painter.
