On October 22, 2011 she was elected becoming the first Ecuadorian to receive this title. Born to an Ecuadorian father and a Swiss mother, Schiess is pursuing a bachelor"s degree in business engineering at Universidad Delegate Pacifico and speaks Spanish, English, German and Swiss German. Schiess is also a professional make-up artist.
Prior to her participation in, Schiess was appointed by Mission Ecuador Organization to represent her nation in, held on August 28, 2010 in Plock, Poland.
As the official representative of her country to the 2011 Mission Universe pageant, broadcast live from São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011, Schiess will vie to succeed current Mission Universe titleholder, Ximena Navarrete of Mexico. Schiess currently works as a reporter and co-host on the morning show CafeTV on the EcuadorTV Network.
