He also is part owner of the Calgary Flames and high-end Calgary restaurant Catch. With an estimated Netto worth of $United States 2.5 billion (as of March 2011), Riddell was ranked by Forbes as the 12th wealthiest Canadian and 459th in the world. Riddell was a president of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists and Chair of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
The Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources at the University of Manitoba is named in honour.
Riddell donated $10-million in order to create an endowment fund for the faculty. The faculty combines the Department of Environment and Geography, the Department of Geological Sciences and the Natural Resources Institute.
In May 2010, Carleton University announced the creation of Canada"s first graduate program in political management, made possible by Riddell"s donation. Riddell made the largest donation in Carleton"s history, making the creation of the program possible.
Also owns Perpetual Energy Incorporated, Trilogy Energy Trust, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Energy.
Clayton is Chief Executive Officer of both Paramount Resources Limited. and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Energy Corporation As of March 2014, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Energy has received a takeover bid from Paramount Resources.
