Background
He was born in Brighton and attended Brighton, Hove & Sussex Grammar School where he was captain of cricket. Ricks played club cricket at Brighton & Hove Central Committee, where his father, Peter, was later President.

Clive Ricks

He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium/fast-pace bowler who played for Oxfordshire. Clive represented Sussex at cricket and he also played badminton and tennis at county level He trained as a P.E. teacher at Bede College, Durham University.
He taught at Kingdown School in Warminster, Wiltshire and played cricket for South Wiltshire Central Committee in the Southern League.
In 1983 Ricks moved to be Head of P.E. at Matthew Arnold School in Oxford. He joined Cowley Street John Central Committee and played for Oxfordshire in the Minor Counties Championship between 1984 and 1985, making a single List A appearance for the side, during the 1985 National Westminster Trophy, against Essex.
From the lower-middle order, he scored 17 runs, the second-highest total for the side. Ricks bowled 9 overs but took no wickets.
Clive Ricks joined Cumnor Central Committee in 1989 and was captain of the club for fourteen seasons during which time Cumnor moved from Division 3 of the Oxfordshire Cricket Association League to the top division of the Cherwell League.
Ricks was also captain of the OCA Representative XI for three seasons. He joined Hatch End High School in Harrow as Deputy Head in September 1996 having completed a Masters Degree at Oxford University. Ricks was appointed Headteacher of Great Marlow School in Buckinghamshire three years later where he led the school through a highly successful OFSTED inspection.
In January 2003 he was appointed as Principal of Prospect College in Reading but resigned in April 2005 to become Chief Executive of Badminton England but was only in the post for six months.
Ricks joined the Executive of the Cherwell League in 2007 and at the AGM in 2010 he was voted in as Chairman. Clive Ricks married Elaine Regan in 1984.
