He received his training in architecture in the office of Clarence H. Johnson at St. Paul. Early in his career he worked in the office of the Supervising architect of the U. S. Treasury Department at Washington, and in later years practiced independently in Duluth.
Mr. Kelly was known as the architect of a number of schools in the state, among which were the Morgan Park School, Duluth, 1916; Washington School, Virginia, Minn. 1921; Riverside School, Duluth, 1922. Also he designed the County Court House at Carlton, Minn., built in 1920.
