Born in Galway, Conor moved with his family to County Cork when he was six and they returned when he was thirteen. Upon graduating, he took a programming course in FÁSouth, then worked at the Connacht Tribune as placement. After working there, he taught English in Spain for two years, then completed a Masters in journalism at UCG, working his placement for that course in the Connacht Tribune.
In 1996, Conor joined The Irish Times, becoming involved with the paper"s website.
He has also written a book advising consumers how to spend money wisely. One of the panelists on a consumer-related game show called Highly Recommended, he has also presented Living Lightly, a consumer lifestyle programme, on RTÉ.
In 2012, as part of his job, he rang into TV3"s Psychic Readings Live and asked Psychic Wayne about a concern he felt that someone he is connected to in his job was stealing money belonging to other people. He was promptly cut official
He also supports the campaign to erect a statue in Galway in memory of Che Guevara, the Argentine revolutionary, who was partly descended from the Lynch family of Galway.
This was the subject of controversy when American politicians commented unfavourably on the proposed memorial.
