Daniel Chamberlain and widow of W. Channing Simmons, of Boston, June 1898. Received Rougevin, Deschaumes, Educated Labarre, Bouwens prizes and Prix de la Societe Centrale des Architects Francais. Inspector state buildings and national palaces, France, 1889-1893.
Rotch professor architectural design, Massachusetts Institute Technology, since 1893. Member Codman & Despradelle. Received one of first 5 awards in Phoebe A. Hearst competition for University of California, 1899.
1st gold medal, Salon, Paris, for design for monument, “The Beacon of Progress,” to glorify the American nation (two of the drawings were purchased by French government for Luxembourg Gallery). Appointed, 1900, member permanent board of 4 advisers to University of California (with McKim, Carrère and Howard of New York). Consultant architect, Museum Fine Arts Boston, 1906.
Special lecturer on architectural design, Harvard University, since 1910.
