This is the story of the U-2 reconnaissance planes used for the first Gulf War (1990-1991). Written by the 9th Reconnaissance Wing's historian, it gives a brief history of the causes of the war, the Wing's response, a description of the U-2 and its sensor capabilities, the operations assigned and performed by the U-2s during the conflict and the follow-up assessment of the unit's activities. Also included are the mission statistics for each month and the citations for the Distinguished Flying Crosses and Bronze Stars awarded personnel during the deployment. A fascinating read.
