Served in India and Africa. Commanded the 42nd Battery Royal Field Artillery from the commencement till 1 May 1901, South African War. Present at Elandslaagte, Reitfontein, Farquhar’s Farm, throughout the siege of Ladysmith on Caesar’s Camp.
With General Buller’s operations north of Natal, Belfast and Lydenburg(despatches, Companion of the Distinguished Service Order). Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1900; Reserve of Officers; Master of the Albrighton Hounds, 1905-1910; retired R.A. 1905.
