Gray previously played professionally for the Kansas City Chiefs and played college football at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical. Gray was drafted by the Chiefs in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. In football, he played running back for the DeSoto Eagles football team During his award winning junior campaign, he ran for 1,482 yards and 31 touchdowns while also hauling in 38 passes for 436 yards and two more scores, being named to the Texas Sports Writer"s Association All-State Second Team as a kick returner and Third Team as a running back.
In track & field, Gray was one of the state"s top performers in the 100-meter dash.
In addition, he also ran 41.80 seconds on the Desoto"s 4x100m relay squad. As a junior in 2010, Gray rushed for 1,133 yards with 12 touchdowns and was an All-Big 12 honorable mention for the second consecutive season.
In the 2012 NFL Draft Gray was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 6th round of the draft. Before the season, Gray was listed 5th string on the depth chart.
He got his first career carry against the San Diego Chargers on September 30, 2012.
