Studied law in Krakow, half a year in Belgium and also in Budapest with a focus on human rights.

He worked for the Czechoslovakian branch of Transparency International on the position of program director of the trust for the Czechoslovakian Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. In the years 2003-2011 with a two-year break worked at the Government Office, in 2007 served as a director of the office of the Government Council for Roma Community. In 2004, he created the Action Plan for the Decade of Roma Inclusion.
He helped produce Agency for Social Inclusion.
Since March 2009, he was Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Minorities. After the resignation of Minister Michael Kocáb took effective management of the sector.
In its appeal in February 2011, he was director of the Human Rights Office of the Government. In 2010 he unsuccessfully ran for the Green Party in the borough council Prague 10.
Since 2011 he work as director of the festival Prague Pride and chairman of organizing civic association.
Since March 2012 is director of the non-governmental organization Open Society.
Also is a board member of the Open Society Fund Prague.
