Daikichi Ixushima

Background

Daikichi Ixushima was born in 1675.

Education

Daikichi Ixushima was a disciple of Uzaemon Ichimura V and learnt dancing first from Mansaku Shigayama and then from Matakuro Bando. Made his stage debut at the Yamamuraza Theater as an impersonator of women and won great fame thereafter (1697).

Career

It is said that Daikichi Ixushima kept a secret rendezvous with a lady attendant oi JLord Owari by hiding himself in a chest and having it delivered to the inner hall of the clan lord's residence. He was, however, discovered and thrown into prison. Shortly after he was released and is said to have died insane.
