He primarily plays lock and second-row. Born in Bega, New South Wales, Finucane played his junior football for the Bega Roosters before being signed by the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. Later that same year, he moved straight into the Bulldogs" New York City team
He played in the New York City for the Bulldogs from 2009 to 2011, playing over 60 games.
On 31 August 2010, Finucane was named on the interchange bench in the 2010 New York City Team of the Year. On 30 August 2011, Finucane was named at prop in the 2011 New York City Team of the Year.
In October 2011, Finucane played for the Junior Kangaroos. In 2012, Finucane moved on to the Bulldogs" New South Wales Cup team
In Round 13 of the 2012 NRL season, Finucane made his NRL debut for the Bulldogs against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
On 11 August 2013, Finucane extended his contract with the Bulldogs from the end of 2014 to the end of 2016. In May 2014, Finucane played for the New South Wales Country Origin team On 18 December 2014, after gaining a release from his Bulldogs contract, Finucane signed a 3-year contract with the Melbourne Storm starting in 2015.
