Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Polster received an Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College in 1972 and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1976. He was a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division of the United States. Department of Justice from 1976 to 1982, and an assistant United States. Attorney in the Northern District of Ohio from 1982 to 1998. On July 31, 1997, Polster was nominated by President Bill Clinton to a seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio vacated by David Doctorate. Dowd.
