Daniel Birchmore was born on September 18 in 1951, in Athens, Georgia, United States. He is a son of Fred Agnew and Willa Deane Birchmore.

Education

Birchmore received his education at University of Georgia in 1972 and graduated from Medical College of Georgia with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (nowadays Augusta University) in 1976.

Career

Birchmore started his career at Vanderbilt University Hospital in 1976. Then he worked at the University of Virginia Hospital from 1979 till 1981. He had a private practice in rheumatology in Athens, Georgia from 1981 till 1990. He also worked at U.S. Veterans Hospital, Elsmere as chief of the division of rheumatology from 1990 till 1997. Since 1997, he works as a physician at U.S. Veterans Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Since the 1990s, he also works as a freelance children's books writer.
