Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Huyett received an Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan in 1942 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1948. He was in the United States Army Air Corps Lieutenant during World World War II, from 1942 to 1946. He was in private practice in Berkshire County, Pennsylvania from 1949 to 1970.
He was a City solicitor, Reading, Pennsylvania from 1952 to 1956.
