Daniel Fish, American lawyer.


Fish, Daniel was born on January 31, 1848 in Cherry Valley, Illinois, United States. Son of Daniel and Parmelia (Adams) Fish.


Educational public schools, Winnebago Company, Illinois.


Enlisted as private Company G, 45th Illinois Infantry, January 4, 1864. Mustered out, July 12, 1865. Adjutant general G.A.R., 1887-1888.

Assistant adjutant general Minnesota G.A.R., 1886, judge advocate, 1887. Removed to Iowa at close of war. Admitted to bar, 1871.

Removed to Delano, Minnesota, 1871. Established and edited Delano Eagle, 1872. Probate judge, Wright Company, Minnesota, 1876-1877 and 1879.

Removed to Minneapolis, 1880. Alternate delegate Republican National Convention, 1880. 1st attorney city park commission, 1883-1887.

Also attorney state park commission, attorney of Court House and City Hall Commission, since 1887. Counsel and trust officer Minnesota Title Insurance & Trust Company, 1889-1894. Appointed court receiver of Northern Trust Company, 1897.

Commissioner to revise and codify the general laws of Minnesota, April 16, 1901. Chairman commission after March 1904. Report adopted and went into effect March 1, 1906.

City attorney of Minneapolis, 1911-1914. Resigned and appointed judge 4th Judicial District. Elected to same for term ending January 1921.

Declined reëlection.
