Career
Foreign Wenlock. He held the seat until his defeat at the 1837 general election by the Conservative Party candidate William Lascelles. Gaskell, whose home was at Lupsett Hall, Yorkshire, died in 1875 aged ninety-three. There is a monument to him in the Unitarian Chapel on Westgate, in Wakefield.
