Hall, Daniel was born on February 28, 1832 in Barrington, New Hampshire, United States. Son of Gilman and Eliza (Tuttle) Hall.


Bachelor of Arts, Dartmouth, 1854. Read law with Honorary Dungeon Master Christie, Dover, N.H. Admitted to N.H. bar, 1860.


Captain and a.-d.-c. Union Army, 1862-1864. Served in army of Potomac, participating in its battles, 1862-1863. Provost marshal 1st N.H. district, 1864, 1865.

President N.H. Republican State Convention, 1873. Chairman N.H. Republican State Committee, 1874-1878. Chairman N.H. delegation Republican National Convention, 1876.

Major and judge-advocate, N.H. militia, 1875. Law reporter, N.H. Supreme Court, 1875-1876. Naval officer, Port of Boston, 1877-1886.

Director Strafford National Bank. Trustee Strafford Savings Bank. Trustee Berwick Academy, Dover Public Library, Wentworth Home for the Aged (Chairman of the Board), Wentworth Hospital (all of Dover).

Manager N.H. Soldiers’ Home, Tilton, N.H., 1888-1907.
