Career
He was drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football at Appalachian State and attended Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee, where he later returned to do a favor for his childhood second mom. He autographed a picture for every student at the school she worked at in 2012.
On February 27, 2014, the 49ers signed Kilgore to a contract extension that kept on the roster through 2017.
