Moved to Burlington, New Jersey, 1677. Surveyor general of West Jersey Province, 1682-circa 1700, made 1st map of Burlington, 1696. Member New Jersey Provincial Assembly, 1682.

Published Almanac, Philadelphia, 1687, issued 2d edition. which involved him in controversy with Quakers of Philadelphia, 1688. Member New Jersey Government's Council, 1702-1708.
