Daniel Lluch-Belda is a biologist with a DS degree at the Instituto
Politecnico Nacional, Mexico. He has worked at the Instituto Nacional
de la Pesca (1963-1977), the Centro Interdisciplinario de Ciencias
Marinas del IPN (1978-1984 and 1997-to date) and the Centro de
Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste, SC (1984-1996). His main
subjects of research have been marine mammals, shrimp fisheries,
small pelagic fishes and the effect of climate change on marine
resources.

Among the most signicant recognitions to his profes-sional labor are part of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize (divided between the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change and Albert Arnold Gore Jr.), a scientic-life achievement award granted by the Mexican Fisheries Society and the Mexican Chapter of the American Fisheries Society, and at least six med-als of honor bestowed by the National Secretary of Education, IPN, the Universidad Marista and the State of Baja California Sur for his life achievements in scientic research, professor-ship and public service.
