His height is 181 cm and weight 80 kg. Mesotitsch originally competed in cross-country skiing. However, in 1997 he was injured in a car crash and took up shooting during his recovery when he was unable to undertake ski training.
He subsequently switched to biathlon.
He has competed in four Winter Olympics, in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. Both of the relays together with Dominik Landertinger, Simon Eder and Christoph Sumann.
