Daniel Louis Mundy was born in 1826 in Wiltshire, United Kingdom.

Career

With a home base in Christchurch, New Zealand, Daniel Mundy roamed the countryside with his camera. He was commissioned by the Canterbury Museum to photograph its collection of moa skeletons, and Daniel Mundy also photographed paleontologist Sir Richard Owen's specimens.

Daniel Mundy, in addition to his scientific photography, recorded various aspects of nature in New Zealand. He worked with wet-plate negatives.

Achievements

• A member of the London Photographic Society, Daniel Mundy was awarded a gold medal from the Emperor of Austria ca. 1875.
