Daniel T. Roble is an American lawyer based in Boston, Massachusetts. He was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1975 and later became a partner at the law firm Ropes & Gray LLP, where his practice covered corporate and health care law. He co-authored a 2009 article on legal obstacles to value-based purchasing in healthcare.
Education
Roble earned a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University in 1968. Founded in 1701 and located in New Haven, Connecticut, Yale was among the oldest institutions of higher learning in the American colonies and developed into a major center of liberal arts and professional study.
He then studied at the University of Cambridge in England, where he received a Master of Science in 1972. Cambridge's collegiate system, in which teaching was organized through semi-autonomous colleges alongside university faculties, was a distinctive feature of English higher education in that period.
Roble received a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1975. The university was founded by Thomas Jefferson and opened in 1819, and its law school, established in 1826, is among the oldest law schools in the United States.
He was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1975, the same year he completed his law degree.
Career
Roble's professional career centered on legal practice in Boston. He became a partner at Ropes & Gray LLP, a Boston law firm with origins in 1865 that counted among the city's established firms and served corporate, financial, and health care clients.
His health care work concerned the legal questions raised by how health services were paid for and organized. In 2009 he co-authored an article in the American Journal of Law and Medicine on legal impediments to implementing value-based purchasing in healthcare, a payment approach that links reimbursement to measured quality and outcomes.
