Career
Born in Sharon, Connecticut, Saint John engaged in mercantile pursuits and the real estate business at Monticello, New York, in 1831. Saint John was elected as a Whig to the 30th United States Congress, holding office from March 4, 1847, to March 3, 1849. He moved to Newburgh, New New York
He served as delegate to the Constitutional Union National Convention in 1860.
Chief registrar in the banking department of New York State. He died in New York City February 18, 1890.
He was interred in Woodlawn Cemetery, Newburgh, New New York
