Daniel Velez

Career

He represented Puerto Rico at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and competed for the men"s 100 m breaststroke. Among the sixty-three competitors in the heats, Velez placed thirty-third in the overall rankings, and did not advance into the later rounds.

Achievements

• At the 2005 Maccabiah Games, he won gold medals in the 100-meter breaststroke and 400 medley relay, and a bronze medal in the 200 breast. Velez won the third heat, with a time of 1:01.80, just 0.29 seconds ahead of India"s Sandeep Sejwal.

Membership

Velez is also a member of North Carolina State Wolfpack swimming team, while pursuing his degree in psychology at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
