From an early focus upon general equilibrium theory and dynamical systems, my interests have increasingly shifted toward more applied topics involving choices made under uncertainty in the absence
of complete markets. My work on irreplaceable losses, for example, concerns the implications of the inability to replace commodities lost in accidents upon the ex ante demands for insurance and protection. My work on costbenefit analysis provides a procedure for measuring the value of public projects which entail uncertain benefits in the absence of complete contingent claims markets.
Most recently, my research on product liability involves the contract as a device for providing insurance and incentives in the context of irreplaceable accident losses.
