Daniel Crosby Green was born in 1843.

Career

When plans were made for translating the Bible into Japanese he returned to Yokohama (1875) and set about the work in co-operation with Brown and Hepburn, and published the first Japanese language Bible in 1880.

Achievements

• He founded a Bible society and church in Kobe (1874), the first church to be founded in Settsu Province and which is now the Kobe Union Church.
