( The central contention of the "New Atheism" of Richard ...)
The central contention of the "New Atheism" of Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens is that there has for several centuries been a war between science and religion, that religion has been steadily losing that war, and that at this point in human history a completely secular scientific account of the world has been worked out in such thorough and convincing detail that there is no longer any reason why a rational and educated person should find the claims of any religion the least bit worthy of attention. But as Edward Feser argues in The Last Superstition, in fact there is not, and never has been, any war between science and religion at all. There has instead been a conflict between two entirely philosophical conceptions of the natural order: on the one hand, the classical "teleological" vision of Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, and Aquinas, on which purpose or goal-directedness is as inherent a feature of the physical world as mass or electric charge; and the modern "mechanical" vision of Descartes, Hobbes, Locke, and Hume, according to which the physical world is comprised of nothing more than purposeless, meaningless particles in motion. The modern "mechanical" picture has never been established by science, and cannot be, for it is not a scientific theory in the first place but merely a philosophical interpretation of science. Not only is this modern philosophical picture rationally unfounded, it is demonstrably false. For the "mechanical" conception of the natural world, when worked out consistently, absurdly entails that rationality, and indeed the human mind itself, are illusory. The so-called "scientific worldview" championed by the New Atheists thus inevitably undermines its own rational foundations; and into the bargain it undermines the foundations of any possible morality as well.

(In both the occult and historical fields there is a need ...)
In both the occult and historical fields there is a need for a systematic account of magical procedure, and "The Book of Ceremonial Magic", written (in 1911) by the distinguished occultist Arthur Edward Waite, fills it. The book satisfies the desire to know precisely the actual content of ceremonial magic -- the procedure, the words, the requirements of the operator, whose main purpose was communication with unseen, intelligent powers or spirits and receive their aid in accomplishing his will. The book is divided into two parts. Part I, titled "The Literature of Ceremonial Magic", contains an analytical and critical account of the chief magical rituals known to the author and includes key passages from the principal magical texts of the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. Part II, titled "The Complete Grimoire", is a veritable "how to" of magical practice with chapters on the preparation of the operator, initial rites and ceremonies, the hierarchy of spirits, the rite of conjuration, etc. This fascinating volume should be on the bookshelf of every serious student of old-world history or the occult.

(A heartwarming true-life fable from the Radio City Christ...)
A heartwarming true-life fable from the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Santa—including his personal journey of discovering the magic of Christmas. Every year, over a million people attend the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, where they have the pleasure of seeing Charles Edward Hall don a traditional red suit and become the world's most famous Santa Claus—a role he has played for twenty-seven straight years. But Hall wasn’t always such a jolly old soul. Believe it or not, this Santa was once a Scrooge. For the first time, Charles tells the inspiring story of his own transformation, from a wide-eyed child who once caught a glimpse of Santa through a frosty windowpane, to a young man who lost his faith in jolly old Saint Nick. It wasn’t until fate intervened, in the form of an unexpected role, a stage malfunction, and hundreds of letters from children, that Charles rediscovered his Christmas spirit. Ultimately, he realized Radio City was his life’s work, and that Santa isn’t just a role. He lives in the hearts of the millions who attend the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and everyone who embraces the Christmas spirit. Santa Claus, in other words, is real. When Charles needed him most, Santa was there, with kind words and a special gift. As this delightful true-life fable proves, he is there for everyone. All it takes is a good heart, an honest joy, and a belief in the magic of Christmas.

( Hiram Bingham was the ideal explorer-adventurer—handsom...)
Hiram Bingham was the ideal explorer-adventurer—handsome, rich, intelligent, brave, and tough. His life seems like something out of film hero Indiana Jones’s exploits in Raiders of the Lost Ark . The descendant of strong-willed missionaries, Bingham was born in Hawaii in 1875, At Yale he specialized in South American studies and became a college teacher. Gradually, the romance of the past took hold of his practical soul. Obsessed by the Incas and his dream of uncovering lost cities, Bingham initiated and expedition to Peru that would lead him to uncharted territories. Using quotations from Bingham’s accounts, Cohen describes how in 1911 Bingham made the greatest archaeological find of the century, the rediscovery of Machu Picchu, the abandoned Inca city in the remote Peruvian mountains. On later expeditions he discovered other lost cities, as he continued his research on the mysteries of Machu Picchu and the last of the Incans, despite the physical hardships and dangers of exploration. When World War I broke out, Bingham learned to fly—no small accomplishment in those pioneering days of aviation. He eventually joined the American forces in France as head of the largest Allied flight training base in Europe. After the war, the ambitious and restless Bingham entered a new career, politics, and was elected senator from Connecticut in a landslide victory. But he was too proud an individualist to do well in government. Bingham spent the rest of his life writing and lecturing. Bingham led the kind of action-packed life that most people only dream of. Daniel Cohen has written a story sure to capture the imagination of everyone who likes history enlivened by cliff-hanging adventures.

( Henry Stanley’s physical and mental toughness earned hi...)
Henry Stanley’s physical and mental toughness earned him the nickname Bula Matari, “Rock Breaker.” Although best known for finding the lost Scottish missionary David Livingstone, the explorer and journalist had many other adventures around the world. Born in Wales in 1841, he was placed in a workhouse by his uncle at the age of six. Stanley escaped nine years later and made his way to New Orleans by working as a cabin boy. He fought for the Confederacy and was taken prisoner at Shiloh, one of the Civil War’s bloodiest fights. After the war, Stanley discovered his talent for journalism and traveled thousands of miles to cover battles and other news. His abilities made him the perfect man to lead the New York Herald’s expedition to Africa to find Livingstone. The two men became friends, and when Livingstone died, Stanley felt it was his duty to continue his work, including the search for and confirmation of the Nile’s source. From 1874 to 1877, Stanley embarked on an expedition that mapped huge areas of central Africa. He encountered tribal warfare, exotic illnesses, and dense jungles, but nothing stopped him. On his last African journey, Stanley helped rescue a government official, Emin Pasha, who was trapped in Sudan during a revolt to drive Europeans and Egyptians out of the country. While on this expedition, Stanley located the fabled Mountains of the Moon, the ultimate source for the Nile.

(On December 7, 1941, as the great battleships Arizona, Ok...)
On December 7, 1941, as the great battleships Arizona, Oklahoma, and Utah lie paralyzed and burning in the aftermath of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, a crack team of U.S. Navy salvage divers headed by Edward C. Raymer are hurriedly flown to Oahu from the mainland. The divers have been given a Herculean task: rescue the sailors and Marines trapped below, and resurrect the pride of the Pacific fleet. Now for the first time, the chief diver of the Pearl Harbor salvage operations, Cmdr. Edward C. Raymer, USN (Ret.), tells the whole story of the desperate attempts to save crewmembers caught inside their sinking ships. Descent into Darkness is the only book available that describes the raising and salvage operations of sunken battleships following the December 7th attack. Once Raymer and his crew of divers entered the interiors of the sunken shipwrecks--attempting untested and potentially deadly diving techniques--they experienced a world of total blackness, unable to see even the faceplates of their helmets. By memorizing the ships' blueprints and using their sense of touch, the divers groped their way hundreds of feet inside the sunken vessels to make repairs and salvage vital war material. The divers learned how to cope with such unseen dangers as falling objects, sharks, the eerie presence of floating human bodies, and the constant threat of Japanese attacks from above. Though many of these divers were killed or seriously injured during the wartime salvage operations, on the whole they had great success performing what seemed to be impossible jobs. Among their credits, Raymer's crew raised the sunken battleships West Virginia, Nevada, and California. After Pearl Harbor they moved on to other crucial salvage work off Guadalcanal and the sites of other great sea battles.

(Rocks, Riddles and Mysteries: Folk Art, Inscriptions and...)
Rocks, Riddles and Mysteries: Folk Art, Inscriptions and Other Stories in Stone, by Edward J. Lenik Archaeologist and author Ed Lenik is widely known for his expertise in northeastern Native American rock art. In the course of his travels and research, he has encountered many strange and curious historical rock and stone carvings and structures, some of which may be regarded as Indian, but the majority of which by his reckoning are "white guy" art. This book describes those sites and objects and the fascinating stories behind their creation. Puzzling, captivating, and at time bewildering, these historical curiosities include faces, animals, designs, patterns and scenes carved on rocks through New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The author has personally probed and researched each site in some detail, learning when it was first noticed and what the local people had to say about why it was there and who carved or painted it. Tourist attractions? Boy Scout art? Idle play among quarry workers? Archaeological fraud? Hebrew inscriptions? Outsider art? Norse runes? You can decide, since a "See For Yourself" section invites you to visit the sites that are publicly accessible so that you may draw your own conclusions. Lenik, a Registered Archaeologist, is a past president of the Archaeological Society of New Jersey and the Eastern State Archaeological Federation. As Honorary curator of archaeology at Bear Mountain's (New York) Trailside Museums, he is a well-known speaker and hike leader in northern New Jersey and southeastern New York., Designed to be used in the field, or as an enjoyable read in the armchair, this guide will transport the reader on an adventure of discovery, visiting curious places, looking at mysterious rocks and hearing the stories they have to tell.

(A brilliant, authoritative, and fascinating history of Am...)
A brilliant, authoritative, and fascinating history of America’s most puzzling era, the years 1920 to 1933, when the US Constitution was amended to restrict one of America’s favorite pastimes: drinking alcoholic beverages. From its start, America has been awash in drink. The sailing vessel that brought John Winthrop to the shores of the New World in 1630 carried more beer than water. By the 1820s, liquor flowed so plentifully it was cheaper than tea. That Americans would ever agree to relinquish their booze was as improbable as it was astonishing. Yet we did, and Last Call is Daniel Okrent’s dazzling explanation of why we did it, what life under Prohibition was like, and how such an unprecedented degree of government interference in the private lives of Americans changed the country forever. Writing with both wit and historical acuity, Okrent reveals how Prohibition marked a confluence of diverse forces: the growing political power of the women’s suffrage movement, which allied itself with the antiliquor campaign; the fear of small-town, native-stock Protestants that they were losing control of their country to the immigrants of the large cities; the anti-German sentiment stoked by World War I; and a variety of other unlikely factors, ranging from the rise of the automobile to the advent of the income tax. Through it all, Americans kept drinking, going to remarkably creative lengths to smuggle, sell, conceal, and convivially (and sometimes fatally) imbibe their favorite intoxicants. Last Call is peopled with vivid characters of an astonishing variety: Susan B. Anthony and Billy Sunday, William Jennings Bryan and bootlegger Sam Bronfman, Pierre S. du Pont and H. L. Mencken, Meyer Lansky and the incredible—if long-forgotten—federal official Mabel Walker Willebrandt, who throughout the twenties was the most powerful woman in the country. (Perhaps most surprising of all is Okrent’s account of Joseph P. Kennedy’s legendary, and long-misunderstood, role in the liquor business.) It’s a book rich with stories from nearly all parts of the country. Okrent’s narrative runs through smoky Manhattan speakeasies, where relations between the sexes were changed forever; California vineyards busily producing “sacramental” wine; New England fishing communities that gave up fishing for the more lucrative rum-running business; and in Washington, the halls of Congress itself, where politicians who had voted for Prohibition drank openly and without apology. Last Call is capacious, meticulous, and thrillingly told. It stands as the most complete history of Prohibition ever written and confirms Daniel Okrent’s rank as a major American writer.

Arthur Edward Waite (1857 - 1942) was a scholarly mystic who wrote extensively on occult and esoteric matters, and was the co-creator of the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. As his biographer, R.A. Gilbert described him, "Waite's name has survived because he was the first to attempt a systematic study of the history of western occultism - viewed as a spiritual tradition rather than as aspects of proto-science or as the pathology of religion.Waite was born in the United States. His father, Capt. Waite, died when he was at a very young age, and his widowed mother, Emma Lovell, returned to her home country of England, where he was then raised. He was educated at aprivate school in London. When 13, he went to St. Charles' College. He left school to become a clerk he wrote verse in his spare time. The death of his sister in 1874 attracted him into psychical research. At 21 he began to read regularly in the Library of the British Museum, studying many branches of esotericism. When he was almost 30, he married. He spent most of his life in or near London, connected to various publishing houses, and editing a magazine The Unknown World. He joined the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in January 1891 after being introduced by E.W. Berridge. He became a Freemason in 1901, and entered the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia in 1902. The Golden Dawn was torn by further internal feuding until Waite's departure in 1914. Later he formed the Fellowship of the Rosy Cross, not to be confused with the Societas Rosicruciana. By that time there existed some half-dozen offshoots from the original Golden Dawn, and as a whole it never recovered. Aleister Crowley, foe of Waite, referred to him as a villainous Arthwate in his novel Moonchild and referred to him in his magazine

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century. ++++ The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title.

( Modern presidents are usually depicted as party "predat...)
Modern presidents are usually depicted as party "predators" who neglect their parties, exploit them for personal advantage, or undercut their organizational capacities. Challenging this view, Presidential Party Building demonstrates that every Republican president since Dwight D. Eisenhower worked to build his party into a more durable political organization while every Democratic president refused to do the same. Yet whether they supported their party or stood in its way, each president contributed to the distinctive organizational trajectories taken by the two parties in the modern era. Unearthing new archival evidence, Daniel Galvin reveals that Republican presidents responded to their party's minority status by building its capacities to mobilize voters, recruit candidates, train activists, provide campaign services, and raise funds. From Eisenhower's "Modern Republicanism" to Richard Nixon's "New Majority" to George W. Bush's hopes for a partisan realignment, Republican presidents saw party building as a means of forging a new political majority in their image. Though they usually met with little success, their efforts made important contributions to the GOP's cumulative organizational development. Democratic presidents, in contrast, were primarily interested in exploiting the majority they inherited, not in building a new one. Until their majority disappeared during Bill Clinton's presidency, Democratic presidents eschewed party building and expressed indifference to the long-term effects of their actions. Bringing these dynamics into sharp relief, Presidential Party Building offers profound new insights into presidential behavior, party organizational change, and modern American political development.

Great mistakes make great reading! No area of human endeavor is immune to human error, as these stories of mistakes throughout history clearly show. Some of these mistakes are foolish or funny. Others are serious, terrifying or disastrous. Some are famous. Others are not well known. All of them are marvelously entertaining. Here is the amusing story of a triple double play, the little-known truth about the awesome angle of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the harrowing tale of the man who was hanged twice. The famous and colorful mayor of New York, Fiorello La Guardia, once said, “I don’t make many mistakes, but when I make one, it’s a beaut.” Everyone makes mistakes—mayors, presidents, kings, generals, police officers, judges, scientists, explorers, millionaires, baseball players, parents and students. So remember when you make a mistake, you are not alone! You are in the company of some of the most powerful and smartest people in history!

CEREMONIAL magic is the ancient art of invoking and controlling spirits by a scientific application of certain formulæ. A magician, enveloped in sanctified vestments and carrying a wand inscribed with hieroglyphic figures, could by the power vested in certain words and symbols control the invisible inhabitants of the elements and of the astral world. While the elaborate ceremonial magic of antiquity was not necessarily evil, there arose from its perversion several false schools of sorcery, or black magic.

Winner of the Prix Goncourt In this strange, elegant novel, winner of France's premier literary prize, Patrick Modiano portrays a man in pursuit of the identity he lost in the murky days of the Paris Occupation, the black hole of French memory. For ten years Guy Roland has lived without a past. His current life and name were given to him by his recently retired boss, Hutte, who welcomed him, a onetime client, into his detective agency. Guy makes full use of Hutte's files - directories, yearbooks, and papers of all kinds going back half a century - but his leads are few. Could he really be the person in that photograph, a young man remembered by some as a South American attaché? Or was he someone else, perhaps the disappeared scion of a prominent local family? He interviews strangers and is tantalized by half-clues until, at last, he grasps a thread that leads him through the maze of his own repressed experience. On one level Missing Person is a detective thriller, a 1950s film noir mix of smoky cafés, illegal passports, and insubstantial figures crossing bridges in the fog. On another level, it is also a haunting meditation on the nature of the self. Modiano's sparce, hypnotic prose, superbly translated by Daniel Weissbort, draws his readers into the intoxication of a rare literary experience. (Verba Mundi)

When Kinney ran on the Democratic ticket in the third ward, his friends were at the polls to ensure he got enough votes. With Snake Kinney, a Missouri state senator and Tom Egan, St. Louis's most dangerous gangster, the gang boasted nearly 400 members. Nearly everyone who lived in St. Louis was touched by them in some way or another. 'Egan's Rats' provides a fascinating glimpse into a past that wasn't always idyllic. It was an era in which roving gangs of thugs terrorized voters with impunity, when alcohol was illegal, when a gangster could brag of his power in the newspaper, and when the tendrils of St. Louis crime reached all the way into the White House. (For the reader who is interested in what the Bible has to...)
For the reader who is interested in what the Bible has to say about future events, especially the coming worldwide Tribulation and the Rapture of the Church, this book will help to harmonize prophecies of both the Old and New Testaments. The same is true for those who would like to get a panoramic view of the entire book of Revelation. This book will be of special interest to those who are already somewhat knowledgeable of the Pre-Tribulation viewpoint of the Rapture of the Church. Five arguments are given to substantiate the validity of, and importance of, this theological position. For the reader who does not claim to be a Christian, this book will challenge him or her to see their need to accept Jesus as personal Savior now, before it is too late. Dan Carfrey is member of the Bible faculty of Appalachian Bible College, Bradley, West Virginia. He has served in that capacity for the past seventeen years. Prior to this, Dr. Carfrey served in the pastorate and planted two churches. Having felt called to preach at the age of eight, he preached his first sermon at the age of twelve, and was ordained as a preacher of the gospel at the age of twenty-one. He has been preaching and teaching for over forty years since that time. Dr. Carfrey earned his Doctorate of Ministry at Baptist Bible Seminary in 2005. Dr. Carfrey is listed in the sixth, eighth, ninth, and tenth editions of Krouse's Who's Who Among America's Teachers, as well as the 2008 Cambridge Who's Who of Excellence in Religious Education. More than fifty years later, master playwright Edward Albee (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?) wrote a prequel to this classic. Home Story contains the events in Peter’s life immediately preceding his encounter with Jerry on the park bench and is every bit as powerful as the original. We meet Ann, Peter’s wife, and see the conversation that compelled Peter to go for that fateful walk in the park. For the first time collected in one volume, At Home at the Zoo is a must for any theater lover.

"The World has perhaps been imposed upon in nothing more than in their Notions of this dark Practice, as well its antient as its modern State. Most People, when they read of the antient Magicians, think they are reading of old Necromancers and Conjurers, when really at first they were very honest Men; and now, when they read of them in their modern Practice, they take them for honest Fellows, when they are, generally speaking, meer Juglers, Cheats, Mountebanks, and Posture masters; or else, real Wizards and downright Dealers with the Devil. This is an edition of a classical book first published in the eighteenth century.

Excerpt: ... their Passions, reduce themselves to Temper, and no£ be too hasty to act, even where they may think they may have just Occasion. Simeon and Levi had unquestionably a very just Occasion to be angry, and they give the Greatness of the Provocation as an Excuse for their unbounded Rage, Should he deal with our Sijter as with an Harlot! Yet good Jacob, who knew that all Excursions of human Passions tended to Sin, censur'd it as abominable 5 Cursed be their Angai; for it was jierce, and their Wrath for it was cruel. And to this he added a terrible Sentence, I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel. Fa. I have heard much of Mens governing their Passions, but I see little of it in Practice; for my own part, I consess I have not the Government of myself in a Passion, any more than a drunken Man has in his Wine: But it is a Trouble to me afterwards on many Accounts; particularly, I am fain to break all the hasty Vows and rash Resolutions I make in my Passion, because if 1 do not 1 should ruin myself and all my Family sometimes; and that has often troubled me very much: 1 never considered it at all before. I begin to believe I have been in the Wrong very much; and I think verily it is one Reason why my Children are so little the better for all the Blows; and yet what with one or other of them, I think my Hand or my Tongue is seldom off them. Neigh. As to governing the Passions it is a thing' would take up a long Conserence by itself, and I shall be glad to talk of it with you at any Time; and partilarly, I could tell you a melancholy Story of a Friend of mine and an Acquaintance of yours, who is justly at this Time in a dreadsul Extremity, between the wicked making of passionate Vows and Wishes, and the Necessity he is in of breaking them again, ...

There appears no end to the changes on these bells--" those evening bells--thos'e morning bells." Our's have been ringing again. Last Saturday, about twenty minutes after one, all five went off, while Gurney (then and now master of the Woodbridge National School) was in the kitchen. " Thursday last, March 27, bells rung again--four bells at twenty minutes after fourxfive bells at twenty minutes before five." BEALINGS, April 14, 1834. " Mr. Silver tells me, respecting the Ramsgate bells, that Mr. Rose writes, as follows:--" It is somewhat singular that the bells in the house we are just removing to, rang several days the week before last, to the great astonishment of all in the house. We cannot account for it. It was not confined to the day. The door night-bell rang once or twice in the morning early; and we could not find out that it was done by human aid." (Mr. Rose's letter was dated March 4, 1834.) " Mr. Heard informed me this morning that Mr. Swindell, of Aldborough " (schoolmaster) " told him a few weeks back, that about five years ago, the bells in his father's house, rang; and Mr. S. watched them narrowly. Welcome to a world hidden behind the blinds of reality, a landscape waiting to be molded into a thing of pain and torture. This anthology is not for the faint-hearted. The ideas, themes, and disturbing images portrayed within these pages will send your brain into overdrive on the road to madness. This book is guaranteed to rob you of sleep at night by bringing you the nightmare you've most feared... Carole Gill's "Truth Hurts," where a woman writing about douchey vampires gets her comeuppance. A man is seduced by the lamia in "Ladies of the Scale" by Bob Morgan Jr. Lee Pletzer's "Teeth" will make you think twice about taking your son fishing again. A boy gets revenge on abusive adults in "Devil Inside" by William Cook. We go on a Lovecraftian journey with Jason Warden's amazing story, "Once Seen." K.K.'s "The Visitation" will have you shuddering. Mark Edward Hall's "The Fear" makes a case against hunting for a lost relative. Joseph Mulak's "Wounds" evil deeds for the right reasons. Angel Leigh McCoy's "The Barnes Family Reunion" "The one thing that stands out about this anthology is that no two stories are the same. Yes, they are horror, but each one brings in a new tasty scary delight. Triskaideka Books has done an amazing job of bringing all this talent into one anthology. There is no anthology out such as this and one that needs to be on everyone's bookshelf at one time or another. Jumping into this world of darkness only brings forward the most compelling and interesting tales seen in a long time. It is worth the read and worth keeping for years to come" ~ Shells Walter, Sonar4

Do all animals have rights? Is it morally wrong to use mice or dogs in medical research, or rabbits and cows as food? How ought we resolve conflicts between the interests of humans and those of other animals? Philosophical inquiry is essential in addressing such questions; the answers given must have enormous practical importance. Here for the first time in the same volume, the animal rights debate is argued deeply and fully by the two most articulate and influential philosophers representing the opposing camps. Each makes his case in turn to the opposing case. The arguments meet head on: Are we humans morally justified in using animals as we do? A vexed and enduring controversy here receives its deepest and most eloquent exposition.

Cohen, Daniel Edward was born on March 12, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Son of Milton M. and Sue Greenberg Cohen.
Cohen attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, where he graduated with degree in journalism in 1958.
After graduation he worked as a proofreader at Time Inc. before becoming an editor for Science Digest. The couple had one daughter, named Theodora. Cohen is well known for his books about UFOs, ghosts, psychic phenomena, cryptozoology, and the occult.
Some of these books include The World of UFOs (1978), The Encyclopedia of Monsters (1981), The Great Airship Mystery (1981), How to Test Your ESP (1982), Phone Call from a Ghost (1988), Ghostly Tales of Love and Revenge (1992), and The Ghost of Elvis and Other Celebrity Spirits (1994).
