Voorhis, Daniel Van was born on October 24, 1878 in Zanesville, Ohio, United States. Son of Henry Clay and Mary Ann (Brown) Van Voorhis.

Education

Educated Ohio Wesleyan University and Wasihington and Jefferson College. Graduate Infantry-Cavalry School, 1905, Mounted Service School, 1910, Army War College, 1929.

Career

Enlisted as private, 10th Pennsylvania Vol. Infantry, Spanish-American War, 1898. Second in command Lieutenant Cavalry, United States Army, February 1, 1900, and advanced through the grades to brigadier general, 1936, major general, 1938, Lieutenant general, 1940.

Served as colonel of cavalry, during World War.
