Daniil ANTONOVICH, USSR Actor, Kharkov Shevchenko Drama Theater, since 1926. Real name: ANTONOVICHBUDKO. Popular Artist of USSR since 1954. Stalin Prize, 1948; medal “For Valiant Labor”, 1960. Member, Communist Party, since 1944.


ANTONOVICH, Daniil was born in 1889 in Belopole, now Kharkov Oblast.


1919-1923 at Kiev Shevchenko Drama Theater. 1923-1926 at Russia Workers’ Theater, Moscow, and other theaters. Main roles: Gnat and Nazar in Shevchenko’s “Nazar Stodolya”.

Neschastlivtsev and Tikhon in Ostrovsky’s “Les” (The Forest) and Groza (The Thunderstorm). Gayday and Miron in Korneychuk’s “Gibel eskadry" (The Death of a Squadron) and “Front” (The Front Line). Yaroslav in Kocherga’s “Yaroslav Mudry” (Yaroslav the Wise).

Film parts in “Stachka” (The Strike) and “Bronenosets Potemkin” (The Battleship Potemkin), etc.
