Daniil Daran was born on March 4, 1894, in Voronezh.
He graduated from the Bogoliubov Drawing School in Saratov His teacher was P.S. Utkin.
Exhibitor of Russian and foreign exhibitions since 1917. Since 1921, he lived and worked in Moscow. He was an employee in newspapers and magazines ("Gudok", "Lapot", "Bednota", "Krokodil"), illustrated and designed books for Goslitizdat, publishing house "The Soviet writer", including the trilogy of H. G. Garin-Mikhailovsky "Tyoma’s Childhood", "Gymnasysts", "Students" (1936), "Thaw" by I. G. Ehrenburg (1956), "Collection of stories from the Civil War" by Artem Veselogo (1957).
He taught at Mosenergo's "Krasny Luch" studio (1923, 1950-1955). In the works of the easel graphics, the subjects connected with the themes of ballet, circus, sport, the nature of the Moscow region.
