Davies, senior reporter at WHYY-FM since 2010, covers Philadelphia government and politics and produces enterprise reports on emerging city and regional issues for WHYY’s multimedia news outlets. His blog, “Office Mic,” is featured on WHYY’s NewsWorks.org. He is also a regular fill-in host for Terry Gross on National Public Radio’s Fresh Air, heard on more than five hundred National Public Radio stations.
Davies was a reporter and columnist on government and politics for twenty years at the Philadelphia Daily News.
In 1993, he was offered the post of press secretary to Pennsylvania governor Editor Rendell, and had accepted, but then reversed his decision and declined the post the next week. Davies has also worked in radio for station KYW in Philadelphia as City Hall bureau chief
Davies was a reporter for WHYY-FM from 1982 to 1986, covering City Hall and other beats and served as news director for one year. He has frequently substituted for Marty Moss-Coane on WHYY-FM’s Radio Times.
