He was a partner in Barclay, Bevan & Company, later known as Barclays. He was one of seven sons of Silvanus Bevan and Louisa Kendall. He was a partner in the London bank of Barclay, Bevan & Company (which would become Barclays).
He had a seizure in 1826 and retired from the bank.
Bevan died in 1846.
