The Firm's predecessor, Kaufman, Coren, Ress & Weidman was founded in 1989 by Howard J. Kaufman, Steven M. Coren and Douglas Evan Ress, all of whom were formerly partners in Kittredge, Kaufman & Donley. In 1990, the Honorable Judith J. Jamison resigned from the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas to become Counsel to the Firm. In 1992, the Firm added a fourth partner, Peter J. Weidman.

On May 1, 1995, Kevin J. Silverang and Nora Winkelman, both formerly with Huggler & Silverang, joined with Messrs, Kaufman, Coren, Ress and Weidman to form the Firm and Helene S. Jaron, also formerly with Huggler & Silverang joined as an associate. On July 1, 1995 Susanna E. Lachs became of counsel to the Firm.
