Career
He joined the Centre in 1997 and served as its Director from 2004 to 2006 He co-ordinates the Graduate program in Publishing and Editing at Monash University. Dunstan is a graduate of Monash, Melbourne and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology universities. He has previously worked as a freelance journalist, contributing articles throughout the 1980s and 1990s in newspapers such as The Age and Sun-Herald, and continues to feature in scholarly journals.
He has specialist research interests in the history of Melbourne, the social history of wine and viticulture, the history of newspapers and international sport.
Dunstan"s wide-ranging knowledge has seen him active on the seminar circuit. In 2010 he was the Menzies Fellow at the Menzies Centre for Australian Studies, King"s College London.
