Popular Artist of Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic; Honoured Art Worker Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic; soloist, Bolshoy Theater, since 1944. Stalin Prize, 1950; 2nd Prize at All-Union Congress of Vocalists, 1939; two Order of Red Banner of Labor; Badge of Honor.

Education

Studied at Tbilisi Conservatory.

Career

1935-1944 soloist, Paliashvili Theater of Opera and Ballet, Tbilisi. Roles: leading baritone roles in Paliashvili’s “Daisi” and “Abesalom and Eteri”. Balanchivadze’s “Crafty Daredzhan”.

Roles in operas by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Western European composers. Appeared in film “Shchit Dzhurgaya” (Dzhurgay’s Shield).
