He competed in the giant slalom at the 1952 Winter Olympics and finished 35th. In 1948 he enrolled to Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, United States, and graduated in 1951.
Every winter he went to ski to Davos, Switzerland. After that David became a manager of the Pico Peak ski area in Vermont, which was owned by Andrea"s mother. In 1954 the couple moved to Parshall, Colorado, where David coached alpine skiing until 1957.
Meanwhile, between 1952 and 1956 Andrea gave birth two a girl and two boys, with two girls born some time later.
From 1957 to 1960 David worked for his father"s company in Switzerland, and in 1960–1964 was an architectural designer in Aspen, Colorado. In 1960 he also prepared the United States women"s team to the California Olympics.
After that David re-married and settled in Mexico in 1968.
