Education
David never showed any interest in studies. Having got his secondary education, he underwent a post-secondary technical training in electrical power engineering though it wasn't necessary for him. Since his childhood David has always been fond of sports, literature, poetry and music.
Career
At the age of 14 David began his professional career in the 'Kelliam 71' created by de Maria himself and three his friends: Nene, Sergio, Frank. David had been a member of the group for approximately 6 years.
In 1997 he got down to a new start. David recorded his first named after himself which became rather popular in Spain. The songs 'Nuestra Historia' ('Our History') and 'Aprendiendo a Vivir' ('Learning to Live') were most rotated on the radio.
A bit later David released 2 other his albums: 'Sonar Despierto' ('To Daydream') in 1998 and 'El Color del Destino' ('The Destiny Colour') in 2001 which consisted of the songs written by himself. De Maria wrote songs not only for his albums but also for such artists as the 'Los Canos' , David Bustamante, Alejandro Parreño, Chonchi Heredia, Malú, Tamara, Enkay. In addition to it, David de Maria wrote various music themes for such musicals as 'Aladdin' and 'Peter Pan'.
At the end of 2003, David recorded 'Sin miedo a perder' ('Not afraid to lose') where he expressed his professional development as well as personal one. Having released the disc, David was called a hitmaker.
The next singer's album didn't make the audience wait long. In 2004 the 'Barcos de Papel' ('Paper Ships') album was presented which became a bestseller and brought 3 platinum discs to the author.
In 2006 ‘Caminos de Ida y Vuelta’ (‘Ways Out There and Back’), was launched into the music market.
In 2007 David recorded ‘La fuerza de la voluntad: Grandes Exitos’ (‘The Strength of Will: Greatest Hits’) which consisted of the bestseller song written for the last 10 years.
In 2009 ‘Relojes De Arena’ (‘The Sand Glass’) was released.
David’s latest album ‘Postdata’ was presented in 2011. All the songs recorded were written by himself that later had been sung by different singers such as Malu, David Bisbal, Hugo Salazar, etc.
