David Rice came from Scotland and settled in Easton, in Washington County, New York State. He was killed by a log or tree falling on him. He served in Captain John Petits company, in COL Lewis (or Lerois) Van Woert"s Regiment of Militia of the 16th Albany Company
Militia (Cambridge Division) in the Revolutionary War.
The Roster of State Troops shows Rice to have been a Sergeant. 1776-1803 Joseph Chamberlain RICE b: 12 MAY 1794 in Easton, Washington Company, New York State Lydia RICE b: 1796 Maria RICE b: 9 APR 1800 in Vermont.
